Artist's Proof. "When I created this work, I was going through psychoanalysis. I am also very fond of poetry. I had many poet friends in Colaba, where we lived. And I think when one goes through analysis, it can be rather harrowing in the beginning. But what comes out of the subconscious are disturbing feelings and dreams reflected in my work. I had to speak about these dreams to the analysts; during that period, I uncovered other parts of my creativity, including poetry." - Lalitha Lajmi. This work stems from Lajmi's fascination with poetry, alongside death as a recurring theme. The work also reflects her ongoing interest in psychoanalysis and the attempt to interpret the subconscious mind and its dreams.
