DESCRIPTION
Somnath Hore was one of the most prominent political artists and activists of post-independence India. The 1943 Famine, World War 2, and the Japanese Bombings that ravaged Bengal deeply impacted Hore and stimulated his visual faculty to outpour in various artistic languages. In 1974, Hore transitioned to sculpture, creating figures with 'wounds' using wax, later recast in bronze. This bronze sculpture epitomises his unique approach to capturing human anguish and fragility.
