DESCRIPTION
A.A. Raiba consistently used charcoal as his chosen medium for sketching and his approach to lines evolved with his subjects. Early in his career he portrayed themes like Christ and erotic studies using sharp angular shapes that teetered on the edge of cubism. In later series featuring landscapes and portraits of rural life Raiba's lines became lively and curvaceous reminiscent of Mexican Muralists' styles. Raiba's charcoal sketches vividly depicted his observations of Mumbai’s iconic landmarks like Victoria Terminus and Crawford Market showing his deep connection with architectural elements.
