Kalipada Ghoshal was a prominent figure of the Bengal School of Art. He trained under masters like Sailen Dey and Khitindranath Majumder and practised Japanese painting techniques with Yokoyama Takima. Awarded a Gold Medal in 1928 he became a teacher at the Indian Society of Oriental Arts. This work reveals Ghoshal’s signature blend of Indian themes and Japanese influences. It depicts a woman tenderly feeding a swan. The muted palette refined lines and delicate brushwork reflect Ghoshal's mastery and poetic sensibility.
