DESCRIPTION
Asit Kumar Haldar was a renowned painter and sculptor known for his innovative lacit technique which involved lacquer painting on wood. He was a key figure in the Bengal School of Art and depicted intricate historical scenes. Trained by Rabindranath Tagore he was commissioned to copy paintings in the Ajanta Caves where he gained international acclaim. Haldar worked with various mediums drawing from India's cultural heritage. This artwork is part of the Omar Khayyam series. It depicts a serene scene from the verses of Omar Khayyam with a reclining figure and intricate floral motifs.
