CATALOGUE NOTESAvinash Chandra was an Indian painter born in Shimla who studied at the Polytechnic School in
Delhi. He moved to London in 1956 and was one of the first Indian artists to gain international
recognition. In 1965 he became the first Indian British artist exhibited at Tate Britain in
London.
