Gobardhan Ash Avatars January 2022 - First Ever NFT Auction in India

The 1950s was a period when Indian art was on the cusp. A time where artists were breaking the mould of figurative and realistic artworks that stemmed from the Bengal School of Art. Gobardhan Ash was one of the pioneers of this art style shift. Breathing life into his figures, Ash diverged totally from the traditional school. His figures can be compared in today's time to avatars or what one refers to in the digital age as a profile picture, a graphical representation of a user. This auction re-creates the artworks exhibited at the joint exhibition of the Calcutta group and the Progressive Artists' Group in 1950.

The original artwork and the NFT of the same will be auctioned in subsequent lots. You can choose to buy just the physical artwork, just the NFT, or both.

All purchases are subject to rules and regulations prevalent in India. KYC may be required if mandated by law at the time of the auction or purchase of the NFT. Cryptocurrency payments may be accepted for purchases contingent upon any law/legal requirements/restrictions prevalent in India. Auction is now closed.
