Jamini Roy was from Beliatore which was an obscure village and his family was from a petty landowning background. Growing up in this social and cultural milieu, Roy was deeply intrigued by his surroundings and the village craftsmen’s work. Observing their craftsmanship sparked his interest and enriched his artistic psyche; fostering a deep passion for colour and form as depicted in this artwork. Through his art, he skillfully transformed the mundane aspects of everyday domestic life and the experiences of common people. His works beautifully intertwined with the ongoing tradition of
